The African Americans’ contribution to history is highlighted every February during Black History Month. This year, we’re excited to announce a new way to recognize the achievements of black Americans: by celebrating some of LearnWorlds talented course creators!

Out of 134,567 black owned employer businesses (Source: US Census Data), many choose to create & sell knowledge as an online course.

In honor of Black History Month 2022, we want to take the time to honor these educators for their dedication to furthering knowledge and understanding in our world. What is Black History Month?

Black History Month, also known as African-American History Month, is a major celebration that has occurred every year since 1926 in the United States. The month-long event focuses on the achievements and history of African Americans.

The idea for this celebration was conceived by Historian Carter G. Woodson who proposed a time during which African Americans would be honored and Black history emphasized.

When is Black History Month?

It takes place in the second week of February in honor of Frederick Douglass, a formerly enslaved man who contributed to the abolitionist movement, as well as Abraham Lincoln, who abolished slavery.

Ever since 1926, many countries have celebrated black people and their contributions to history and culture, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the Netherlands.

Today, in addition to museum exhibits and film screenings, Black History Month has become one of the primary sources of information about the contributions of African Americans.
