Data Engineer (EU Remote)

What you'll do and how you'll make an impact:

LearnWolds is looking for an exceptional Data Engineer to help us implement reliable pipelines to get results and useful information from different data sources by integrating, managing, consolidating, and cleansing data.

You will deal with raw, possibly not validated data that contains human, machine, or instrument errors. You will ensure that any data is properly received, transformed, stored, and made accessible to other users, by applying the proper tests and business rules. You will also be responsible for combining, preparing, and providing data sets for analytical or operational uses, while having a high sense of data understanding to implement code that improves data reliability, efficiency, and quality.

Key responsibilities

  • Translate business rules to reliable data transformation pipelines.
  • Create necessary back-end infrastructure for analytics, report visualisations and ML flows.
  • Build, maintain, and improve the BI reporting codebase, ensuring data integrity and availability according to the needs of the BI team and the rest of the organization.
  • Build tests for all data wrangling scripts, to ensure high data quality, integrity and consistency.
  • Identify data flow inefficiencies and propose alternative solutions.
  • Ownership of BI reporting code base in Python.
  • Ensure efficiency of ETLs and availability of data according to needs.
  • Follow engineering best practices (documentation, versioning, etc).
  • Take ownership of work assigned, complete assigned work within deadlines and communicate to people involved issues and delays that might affect the workpackage delivery.
  • Actively participate in weekly Team meetings as expected. Adherence to the Teams’ KPIs and OKR goals should be pursued.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of professional experience in a similar role (back-end or data engineering using Python)
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with coding
  • Test-driven development
  • Ability to understand the business logic behind datasets, to ensure data quality
  • Professional experience with SQL (queries and DB design principles)
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Quantitative skills & analytical thinking

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with Python packages for Data Wrangling (pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, Airflow etc.)
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Some experience with another backend programming language (e.g. PHP, Java, C++ or other)
  • Some familiarity with Big Data technologies and frameworks (eg. BigQuery, Spark, Hadoop, PySpark, Azure)
