What teams ask before connecting
Is this a native connection or does it require a third-party automation tool?
It’s a native connection built into LearnWorlds. You activate it under Settings > Integrations > Email integrations and paste a MailerLite API key. No third-party automation tool is involved.
Which events sync automatically: registration, enrollment, or completion?
Registration syncs automatically and creates the contact. Enrollment and completion sync as tags once you turn them on in auto-tagging. Auto-tags apply to users only, while lead tags sync when a lead submits a form.
Can we sync leads and registered users to separate MailerLite groups?
Yes. You pick one group for registered users and another for leads. A lead who later registers joins the users group too and stays a single contact in both groups.
How to set up the LearnWorlds and MailerLite integration
Setup takes a MailerLite API token and a few minutes in your LearnWorlds settings. You need a MailerLite account, not Classic. At the end, users and leads sync in real time.
1. Create your MailerLite groups
Log in to MailerLite and create groups for registered users and leads. Requires: a MailerLite account that isn’t a Classic account.
2. Generate a MailerLite token
In MailerLite, open Integrations > API and click Generate new token. Copy it now, since you can’t retrieve it later.
3. Activate MailerLite in LearnWorlds
Open Settings > Integrations > Email integrations. Select the MailerLite tab, check Activate, and paste your API key.
4. Connect your MailerLite account
Click Connect to MailerLite to finish the connection. Add text custom fields in MailerLite if you want more data to sync.
5. Pick groups and auto-tags
Select the groups for users and leads, then choose your auto-tagging actions. Click Save to apply your changes.
6. Sync your existing contacts
Run the one-click sync of existing contacts. Repeat it only after adding custom fields. For the full setup guide, see the MailerLite help article.

All paid plans include it, starting with Starter. You also need a current MailerLite account, since Classic accounts aren’t supported.
No. Deleting a user in LearnWorlds doesn’t delete their MailerLite contact. Anonymizing a user doesn’t change their MailerLite status either.
No. Uploading users from an Excel file creates MailerLite contacts with tags and fields. Updating existing users that way doesn’t update their fields or tags in MailerLite.
No. Only tags added after auto-tagging is on sync to MailerLite. Tags users had before the first sync don’t carry over.
You generate a new one. MailerLite doesn’t let you retrieve a token after it’s created, so note it down when you make it.
Yes, if your automations run in MailerLite. After a one-time connection and first sync, contacts and tags flow in real time without exports. See the other email marketing integrations if you use a different tool.
